As Sr. Product Development Engineer you will design and develop structural products from, concept to volume production. The successful candidate will be an experienced engineer who can lead projects, is motivated, self-starting, and works with a sense of urgency. You will be able to work from a vision, as well as a requirement specification. Being structured and disciplined in your work, yet remain flexible and agile, adjusting to the situation, while always keeping the end goal in sight.
The Sr. Product Development Engineer will work with the Sales/Marketing team and customers to identify new product opportunities, verify design requirements and specifications, define development schedules and resource needs, develop and perform tests as needed, work with the Operations team to achieve cost and quality objectives, and provide technical information to our customers and Sales team. You will be able to partner with internal and external customers, helping them to develop their ideas and ultimately finding a solution for them. In this lead position you will bring a strong entrepreneurial spirit, a desire to build/grow the business, and a willingness to help the company identify and develop new opportunities. Key areas of responsibility are:
Develop new and significantly improved high performance structural products. Structures include various pultruded fiberglass shapes along with a variety of metal mounts and attachments.
Lead and manage cross-functional product development teams to execute assigned projects from conception to production on-time, on-spec, and on-budget.
Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team and customers on opportunities for new products and markets.
Refine current products for performance and/or quality improvements and cost reductions.
Provide technical consultation to our customers and our sales organization on our existing and new structural products and product performance.
Participate in resolution of any performance or quality issues as needed.
Participate with industry and academic groups on fiber-reinforced composite structures and seek out GEOTEK growth opportunities.
Be alert for opportunities for invention of patentable products.

Qualifications:
Four-year engineering degree from an accredited engineering program is required, with a preferred degree in mechanical, composite materials, or civil engineering. An advanced engineering degree and/or PE license (or ability to get PE within 2 years) is desired.
Minimum of (5) years of professional experience in engineering metal or composite structures; Experience in the Utility industry highly desired.
Experience leading product development projects; Project management experience and training desired.
Customer-facing experience; Experience working with Sales/Marketing to delight the customer.
Proficient in the use of CAD system, preferably SolidWorks, and FEA software
Excellent communication skills, written and oral, are essential.
Must work well with customers and within cross-functional teams
Must be self-motivated with strong desire for hands-on product development.
