## Job Description
This is a limited tenure position that has been approved for 18 months that may have the possibility of turning into a regular position. Receives direction from the Director of the Biomedical Imaging Resource Core Facility and the Supervisor of the Biomedical Imaging Resource. Is expected to use available skills to develop, implement and refine software in line with the goals of the Biomedical Imaging Resource development efforts. Receives technical direction and assistance from lab director, supervisor and other software development team members within the Biomedical Imaging Resource. Is expected to work in close cooperation with and support users of BIR-developed software both inside of Mayo Clinic and with extramural users and commercial licensees. Designs, implements and maintains software on a variety of computer platforms to support the research and applications development in the Biomedical Imaging Resource. Provides analysis of effective approaches to computing problems, evaluates appropriate algorithms for their solution, writes programs to incorporate algorithms in an appropriate language, applies them to the computer system, and maintains the programs through appropriate debugging, changes and updates. Follows the strategic planning and guidance of the BIR Software Development team in the areas of software standardization, optimization, integration, porting, licensing and dissemination. Works with some independence in carrying out job functions to produce applications programs that meet the needs of the project specifications. Supports users of BIR-developed software both internal to Mayo and external from Mayo for a wide variety of biomedical applications. (002720-91950)
## Qualifications
Requires a BS/BA degree in computer science, applied mathematics or related engineering field. Three to five years of experience in computer programming is necessary, including expertise with C and C++. Mayo Clinic employees are asked to attach up to 3 of their most recent performance evaluations in order to be considered for this position.

Qualifications:
Expertise in high-performance computing/supercomputing is strongly preferred. Additional experience with other programming languages (Python, Java, Tcl/Tk), Windows and Linux operating systems (at a development level), and various interface development paradigms (Windows API, X-windows) is desirable. Experience with parallel algorithm design and multithreaded software development is strongly desired. Further experience in networking and system administration is desired, but is not mandatory. Interpersonal skills must include good verbal and written communications ability. Must have proven ability to work effectively as a team member, showing personal initiative and commitment to follow through on task assignments and meet deadlines. Motivation for continued education and the ability to learn new technologies efficiently are important in this research setting.

Weekend Schedule:
Compensation Detail: Salaried (Exempt) - Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every two weeks is approximately $2,369, based on a full-time position.
