Job Description
The Associate Chair of Prospect Management, Research and Data Analytics will report to the Chief Development Officer and Chair of the Department of Development at Mayo Clinic. Shares responsibility for the operating effectiveness of the Department of Development with other Associate Chairs and physician leadership. Works closely with members of the Development staff, Mayo Clinic benefactors and potential benefactors, Mayo Clinic physician leaders and consultants, and with key administrative leaders throughout the Mayo Clinic enterprise. Provides leadership and direction to management and staff in the Office of Prospect Management and Research and the Data Services and Analytics staff. Represents Department of Development interests by contributing to the decision-making process in all committee and task force assignments. The Associate Chair for Prospect Management, Research and Data Analytics provides leadership, guidance, counsel, and direction to the management and staff of his/her division. This position translates institutional and departmental vision into meaningful and effective responses and results. This position develops strategic and operational plans to carry out the mission of Mayo Clinic and Development. This position creates a team-oriented work environment and builds teamwork within the department and among physician and administrative colleagues.
The primary responsibility for this position will be providing leadership and strategic direction to develop and implement a proactive, comprehensive prospect management system, prospect research strategy, and data analytics strategy. This comprehensive prospect management system, prospect research strategy and data analytics strategy lead by the Associate Chair of Prospect Management, Research, Data Analytics will support and significantly increase the development of principal, major, annual and deferred gifts to achieve the fundraising objectives for Mayo Clinic. In addition, the Associate Chair of Prospect Management, Research and Data Analytics will oversee and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of Prospect Management and Research and the Data Services staff including setting priorities for the units, preparing and managing an annual budget and review of Prospect Management and Research and Data Services staff in multiple locations. Basic
Qualifications:
This position requires a Bachelor''s degree plus a minimum of 10 years of experience in fundraising to include 7 years of experience in nonprofit prospect management and research, data analytics, data mining and/or data warehousing; and to include at least 5 years of management experience, OR a Master''s degree plus 8 years of fundraising experience to include 7 years of experience in nonprofit prospect management and research, data analytics, data mining and/or data warehousing; and to include at least 5 years of management experience. Excellent human relations skills are required to interact effectively with high level contacts within and outside of the organization. Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills to accurately and fully assess the impact of the Development activity on the Department of Development''s initiatives and strategic plan. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively deliver presentations as well as communicate clearly and succinctly in writing. Excellent management skills required to effectively manage a large staff organization within a budget. Must be able to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork. A willingness to travel is essential.

Qualifications:
Management experience to include managing staff within a nonprofit environment with preference for management experience in prospect management, prospect research, data analytics, data mining and/or date warehousing.
Demonstrates a successful track record and high working knowledge of fundraising, prospect management/research, and technologies to support institutional goals to include:
Experience and command of the skills sets of the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA)
Knowledge of all basic fundraising tools and techniques, with specific familiarity with major, principle, and deferred gifts
Experience with design and implementation of predictive modeling for various sectors of the benefactor pipeline
Ability to analyze and match charitable and economic interests of prospects and align those with fundraising profiles and areas of interest
Knowledge of and ability to utilize IRS and US Census statistical and wealth information
Ability to utilize family foundation and private wealth research, including giving data on Forms 990 and Form 990PF
Proven experience using digital and print resources such as Lexis/Nexis, WealthEngine, Dun & Bradstreet/Hoovers, and similar Internet and subscription resources and research tools
Ability to employ a wide variety of proactive prospecting methodologies, including in-house data mining, sophisticated database queries, and an understanding of statical modeling concepts; ability to use third-party mailing and contact lists
Clear understanding of the ethical codes of ethics governing acquisition of and use of prospect research and information
A clear understanding of HIPPA and the possibilities and limitations in using patient information in research
The ability to determine what constitutes relevant and strategic information and how to use that information
A mastery of nonprofit prospect tracking and management systems, including relationship management, data entry, queries, and reports as well as the ability to orient and train colleagues in the effective use of the system
Experience in report writing and extracting data and reports such as Crystal Reports or similar tools
