Job Summary The Public Health Sanitarian Supervisor role provides leadership in planning, coordinating, maintaining, and communicating the state program areas of the Food, Pools, and Lodging Services (FPLS) section of Environmental Health.
You will supervise Public Health Sanitarians and ensure compliance with all rules and statutes FPLS enforces.
Responsibilities include:
Manage and direct the district office field operations staff Design and implement methods of assessment, initiative and evaluation to assure consistent quality service and compliance with rules and state statutes Represent the region at management meetings This position will have a mix of office and telework dependent on the business needs of the unit and at supervisor discretion.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Resumes must reflect qualifications to be considered:
Current registration as a Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist in the State of Minnesota.
Three years of related experience as a Minnesota Registered Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist with primary responsibility in the following program areas:
Food and beverage safety Lodging inspections, Public pool inspections and manufactured home park/recreational camping area inspections Experience as a supervisor, team lead, lead worker, OR project lead Qualifications to be assessed during interview:
Communication skills must be sufficient to communicate clearly with owners, managers, and employees.
Written communications skills must be sufficient to document concise, accurate and complete information and observations.
Critical thinking skills sufficient to collect and analyze information, identify areas of focus, and make decisions based on evidence gathered.
Experience developing and maintaining effective working relationships, inform operators of violations and other pertinent findings, and participate in legal proceedings.
Preferred Qualifications Experience supervisingemployees and strategically lead, manage, develop, direct and guide staff.
Experience interviewing employees in a variety of environments including while loud equipment is operating, in busy kitchen and while the employees are working Experience with project management and facilitating the work of a team.
Experience to understand rules and statues including what is involved to make changes to rules and statutes.
Able to adapt to changes and working under pressure.
Ability to recognize problems and solve complex problems.
Experience managing and coaching employees Physical Requirements Ability to navigate in the following environments:
uneven terrain, slippery flooring, stairs and around working equipment with dimly lit, tight spaces.
Must be able to maneuver acrosslong distances and travel from location to location in all weather conditions.
